Once you have your website up and running, the next thing you'll be concerned about is how many visitors you have. Apart from those customers who will visit your site directly or through direct links, most others will use a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or Live Search.
There are two ways of appearing on a search engine: natural listings or sponsored listings.
Natural Listings
Natural listings is where the search engine crawls through your website and picks up all the keywords. Then, when someone searches for those keywords, your website will appear (albeit perhaps on page 15). We can optimise your site so that the search engines 'favour' the site over others using a number of methods.
Sponsored Listings
Sponsored listings is where you pay to appear in a 'sponsored results' section of the website. Usually this is done using pay-per-click, so that for every customer who clicks on your website in the sponsored listings, you pay a fee, from a few pence to a few pounds. The more popular the keywords are that you chose to appear under, the more you'll pay to the search engine. We can set up your sponsored listings account for you and show you how to monitor and update it, or if you prefer we can manage the sponsored listings for you (you can set the budget!).
Which method?
We can talk you through which method is best for you; often we carry out both for the same website. The main advantage of sponsored listings is that your website can start to appear immediately, whereas the natural listings rely on the search engine's spiders to update Google's indexes (spiders are programs which crawl through your website looking for keywords).
